Although popularized recently by NASA this superfood powder made of algae is not a recent discovery. The Aztecs in Mexico and communities around Lake Chad in Africa are known to have harvested and eaten spirulina as a traditional food source. It contains an impressive array of essential nutrients, including complete proteins, vitamins, minerals, such as iron and magnesium, and antioxidants.
