X-ray detection for food inspection
In the food industry, ensuring products are free from foreign contaminants is crucial for maintaining quality and safety standards. Traditional metal detectors often struggle with ‘wet’ products and packaging variations, leading to inefficiencies and missed contaminants.

Inspect and identify contaminants effectively
The NextGuard™ X-Ray Detection Systems from Thermo Fisher Scientific provide comprehensive inspection capabilities for various food products. Designed to detect both metallic and non-metallic foreign objects, these systems overcome limitations of traditional metal detectors, such as issues with ‘wet’ products. The NextGuard systems include customizable vision software to inspect for missing pieces, under- and over-fills, and other quality issues. The systems feature USDA/FDA approved urethane belts, an IP65 rating with air conditioner, and can handle products up to 500mm x 250mm (19.7in x 9.8in) in size. They support multiple inspection algorithms, including image processing and mass estimation, ensuring precise contaminant detection and quality control. Additionally, the C500 model operates with a belt speed ranging from 5-50m/min (16-164ft/min) and has a detector scan rate of up to 1667 lines/sec, making it suitable for high-speed applications.
