Vision guided multi-robot system for flowpack candy packaging

In confectionery manufacturing, efficiently picking, arranging, and packing a variety of flowpack candies is crucial to maintaining high-speed production. The challenge is to manage randomly arriving products on a conveyor and place them into cartons without damage, while ensuring precise configuration and packaging integrity.

Automate candy packaging with precision and speed

The CV by IMA is a highly flexible Top Loader designed to handle flowpack candies arriving randomly on a belt conveyor. Using a sophisticated vision system, the CV recognizes the position of candies and relays this information to Delta Robots, which then accurately pick and place the candies into carton boxes using vacuum cup end effectors for gentle handling. This system ensures product safety at high speeds and features a modular design allowing scalability with varying quantities of pick-and-place robots to meet different packaging requirements. With quick and reliable format changeovers facilitated by customized format kits and spindle adjustments, the CV meets CE safety standards with full-size transparent panels and safety switches.
