Solids retaining separator for liquid/liquid/solid separation
In industries requiring efficient separation of liquids and fine solids, managing a mixture with very low solids content can pose operational challenges. Ensuring precise and effective separation without compromising product quality is crucial, especially when dealing with volumes containing less than 0.2% solids.

Efficiently separates mixtures with minimal solids content
The solids retaining separator from SPX Flow’s Seital Separation brand is designed for liquid/liquid/solid separation with a very low solids content in the feed, less than 0.2% by volume. Utilizing a high peripheral centrifugal field (G-force), this separator effectively segregates a mixture into its two phases while recovering fine particles ranging from 0.5 to 500 microns. The operation occurs within the high-speed separator’s bowl. As the product enters through a feed pipe, it is accelerated to the bowl’s rotating speed and then conveyed to the disk stack’s rising channels where the separation process is optimized by subdividing the internal space into multiple thin layers. The lighter phase flows toward the center and exits via the inner edge of the disk stack, while the heavier phase moves to the periphery and exits through two fixed centripetal pumps. Solids are collected at the periphery of the bowl and require manual removal. For cohesive and compact solids, an optional collection basket enables faster removal of relatively dry solids, ensuring efficient operation. The system is equipped with micrometric adjusting valves, manometers, and sight glasses on the inlet and outlet pipelines for precise control and regulation.
