Pouch cooling system for food processing

In the food processing industry, rapidly cooling hot-filled soups, sauces, or chowders in pouches is crucial for maintaining product quality and safety. Traditional methods such as water deluge belts or spiral freezers are often slow and less efficient, posing challenges in meeting strict temperature control standards.

Cools pouches faster with hydro-flow® technology

The Chill-Flow™ Pouch Cooler from Lyco Manufacturing is designed to enhance the efficiency of cooling pouched food products. Unlike conventional belt coolers, this system utilizes a submerged water cooling method, which is both economical and efficient. It employs proprietary Hydro-Flow® technology to rapidly reduce temperatures from 130°F (54.4°C) to 80°F (26.7°C), minimizing the time pouches spend in the bacterial danger zone. The rotary drum cooler submerges the pouches in water, gently stirring and massaging them to ensure uniform cooling. Suitable for various pouch sizes, from small restaurant ketchup packs to 5-10 pound pouches, the system can achieve a final temperature of 40°F. Lyco’s design minimizes pouch damage and reduces energy and space requirements.
