Pilot plant conical screw dryer
In the development of pharmaceutical or chemical products, precise control over the drying process is crucial. Challenges include maintaining consistent moisture content, avoiding contamination, and ensuring repeatability during scale-up from laboratory to production levels.
Flexible drying and mixing for pilot-scale applications
The BS-pilotDRY® from Heinkel (Bolz-Summix) offers an adaptable solution for pilot-scaled trials and ongoing quality monitoring in process development. This conical screw dryer can also be used as a central shaft dryer. With hybrid stirrer technology, it allows you to simulate and test various drying and mixing processes using different mixing tools. The unit’s mobile and portable skid design ensures easy installation with a ‘plug and use’ setup. Flexible filling volumes range from 10 to 100%, ensuring adaptability for various processes. All product contact surfaces are heatable, allowing precise temperature control. This system is particularly beneficial for ‘scale-up’ calculations, helping to bridge the gap between laboratory and full-scale production. Operating temperatures reach up to 160°C for the orbital system and 240°C for the central shaft. The system can withstand pressures from -1 bar to +6 bar, accommodating various material needs including stainless steel options like AISI 304 and Hastelloy C22. Cleaning is simplified with the integrated CIP system. Heinkel supplies this dryer, adhering to standards such as GMP, FDA, and ATEX.
