Pharmaceutical roller compactor for dry granulation

In pharmaceutical manufacturing, achieving consistent particle size and uniform density in powders is critical. When faced with dry granulation challenges, particularly for active pharmaceutical ingredients or excipients, precise control and efficient processing are crucial to maintain product quality.

Compact and granulate pharmaceutical powders efficiently.

The BT 120 pharmaceutical roller compactor from Alexanderwerk is designed for small-scale production and pilot plants. This roller compactor works through a three-step process: feeding, compacting, and granulating. The integrated LCD touchscreen offers simple control over the compaction process. With a hopper for raw materials and a screw feeder unit, it ensures consistent feeding into the compacting zone. The two counter-rotating rollers, with a diameter of 120mm and width of 25mm, compress powders into flakes at a maximum press force of 20 kN/cm. These flakes are then granulated using flake-crushers and a size-reduction zone to achieve the desired particle size. This compactor operates continuously with a throughput of up to 8 kg/h. It also features a maximum roller speed of 15 rpm and a roller gap of 4mm, making it suitable for a range of pharmaceutical applications. The compact size and up to 8 kg/hr throughput make it ideal for advancing into galenics.
