In extrusion processes, managing the temperature of extrudates is critical to ensure product quality and prevent deformation during handling. Cooling extrudates efficiently is crucial especially when dealing with high throughputs and materials with high heat capacities.

Efficiently cool extrudates with direct metal contact

The Chill Roll from Three-Tec is designed for the continuous and effective cooling of extrudates with a throughput ranging from approximately 3 kg/h to 100 kg/h. This cooling roller captures the product directly from the extruder die, distributing it evenly across the entire belt width. The innovative design, featuring an extra-large wrap angle, allows for enhanced cooling efficiency, making it suitable for products with high heat capacities or high throughput rates. By ensuring direct metal contact, it rapidly lowers the temperature of the material. The cooled product is then broken into flakes by a conveyor and breaker screw before being discharged through an outlet pipe. This cooling system can be seamlessly integrated with the Three-Tec extruder’s control system or operated independently, according to user requirements.
