Ultrafiltration and microfiltration module for low to medium viscosity products

Treating low to medium viscosity products such as fermentation broths in industries like biotech and pharma requires precise separation, concentration, and purification techniques. Traditional methods often struggle with efficiency, handling diverse viscosities, and maintaining sanitary standards.

Optimize separation and purification processes

The Alfa Laval Module M38L/H is a flexible ultrafiltration and microfiltration system designed to treat low to medium viscosity products, ranging from 1 to 25 cP. With a composite membrane structure that combines a support layer for mechanical strength and a selective layer for separation, this module is energy-efficient and suitable for various industries, including biotech, pharma, food, beverages, and pulp and paper. The M38L/H can handle temperatures up to 80°C, pressures up to 10 bar, and pH levels between 1 and 14. Its open-channel design allows for efficient handling of diverse viscosities, while the sanitary design ensures compliance with FDA and EEC regulations. Available with membrane areas up to 60 m², it offers flexibility for scaling production by increasing the size or number of modules.

Benefits

  • Low energy consumption due to efficient design
  • Modular system allows for easy scalability
  • Handles a wide range of viscosities with open-channel design
  • Sanitary design compliant with FDA and EEC regulations
  • Easy and cost-effective membrane replacement onsite
