Single-use bioreactors for microbial fermentation

When working with microbial applications like bacterial, yeast, or fungal cultures, maintaining high cell density and ensuring effective mass transfer are vital. Traditional bioreactors often require extensive cleaning and sterilization, posing significant work interruptions and potential contamination risks.

Optimized for small-scale microbial fermentation

The BioBLU® f Single-Use Bioreactors by Eppendorf are rigid-walled stirred tank bioreactors designed specifically for robust microbial applications. These bioreactors mimic traditional bioreactors in their design, making them compatible with established laboratory processes. The BioBLU® f series covers a working volume range from 65 mL to 3.75 L, supporting high cell density fermentation. This series incorporates multiple Rushton-type impellers for efficient mixing and mass transfer. The interior baffles enhance mixing and provide effective heat removal, vital for high-density fermentation. The bioreactors come preassembled with spargers, gas filters for inlet and exhaust, and are sensor-ready for pH, dissolved oxygen (DO), and temperature probes. Various head plate ports allow for flexibility in additional fittings. BioBLU 0.3f and 1f models are delivered sterile, irradiated by >15 kGy (β) or >25 kGy (X-ray). The BioBLU 3f model can be sterilized using an autoclave, offering further flexibility. Suitable for integration with Eppendorf bench-scale bioprocess controllers and select third-party controllers, BioBLU® f bioreactors minimize the risks of contamination and downtime typically associated with traditional glass bioreactors.
