Retention time barrel for feed pelleting

In the feed industry, achieving optimal pellet quality often involves improving the thermal treatment of the feed mixture. Challenges include ensuring homogeneous mixing of steam and maintaining the product at a consistent temperature to facilitate easier pelleting.

Maintain temperature and improve pellet quality

The Retention Time Barrel (RTB) from Ottevanger Milling Engineers is designed to retain the conditioned feed mixture at a preset temperature for a specified duration. This ensures an improved absorption of steam and a more homogeneous final product. Constructed from AISI 304 stainless steel, the RTB guarantees first-in/first-out processing, reducing bacterial growth and condensation. Available in various capacities, ranging from 6 to 20 tonnes per hour, it integrates seamlessly with pellet mills, extruders, or meal coolers. The unit features a robust, solid shaft with large flight and inclined pitch, suitable for frequency control. Equipped with a temperature sensor PT 100 and insulated with rock-wool, the RTB includes a direct drive or timing belt transmission and is heated by an adjustable electric thermostat for precise control.

Benefits

  • Up to 15% increase in pelleting capacity
  • Ensured first-in/first-out processing
  • Maintains product at required temperature
  • Easy to clean with minimal maintenance
  • Reduced bacterial growth and condensation
