Efficient dryer-cooler for solvent-extracted meals
When processing vegetable-oil-bearing meals, achieving both effective drying and cooling can be challenging. High energy costs and maintaining specific product characteristics for storage and sale are key hurdles.
Simultaneous drying and cooling of extracted meals
The Dryer-Cooler (DC) from Crown Iron Works addresses the need for efficient drying and cooling of solvent-extracted vegetable-oil-bearing meals. Utilizing a system that injects heated air in the drying section and ambient-temperature air in the cooling section, it ensures an evenly distributed flow of air. This counter-current system maximizes thermal efficiency and reduces energy costs. The DC is flexible and can be used with a Desolventizer-Toaster (DT) or as a standalone unit. The unit is suitable for processing soybeans, canola, rapeseed, sunflower, peanuts, corn germ, woodchips, and cottonseed, among others. The design features a vertical multiple tray system to minimize footprint, one-piece steel shell to prevent leakage, and hard-surfaced steel sweep arms for extended wear. Automatic gate mechanisms and heavy-duty bearings contribute to long-lasting performance and ease of maintenance.
Benefits
- Reduces energy costs through efficient counter-current design
- Maintains desired product characteristics for storage
- Operates on a wide variety of products including soybeans and canola
- Minimizes footprint with vertical multiple tray design
- Durable design with hard-surfaced components for long wear
