Dryer-cooler for solvent-extracted meal

In the oilseed processing industry, solvent-extracted meals often require efficient drying and cooling to achieve optimal storage conditions. Traditional methods may lead to uneven moisture distribution and increased energy costs, necessitating advancements in drying and cooling technology.

Efficient drying and cooling of extracted meals

The Dryer-Cooler (DC) from Crown Iron Works is designed to effectively dry and cool solvent-extracted, vegetable-oil-bearing meals. Utilizing a counter-current system, the DC injects heated air in the drying section and uses ambient-temperature air to cool the meal in the cooling section. This method ensures a uniform, efficient drying and cooling process, reducing energy costs. The DC can operate independently or in conjunction with the Desolventizer-Toaster (DT), providing flexibility based on the user’s processing needs. The unit’s direct contact drying technique leverages the heat and moisture of the product to achieve simultaneous drying and cooling with minimal air usage. The design features a vertical multiple tray arrangement, minimizing the footprint while maximizing thermal efficiency. Additionally, the unit incorporates hard-surfaced steel sweep arms, automatic gate mechanisms, and heavy-duty gate bearings to ensure durability and ease of maintenance.

Benefits

  • Efficient energy use due to counter-current design
  • Flexible operation with or without the Desolventizer-Toaster
  • Minimal material attrition with a semi-fluidized bed
  • Reduced footprint due to vertical tray design
  • Durable construction ensures long lifespan and low maintenance
