Skid-mounted yeast propagation system for craft breweries

In the craft brewing industry, controlling yeast propagation is crucial for maintaining consistency and allowing for experimentation with new beer profiles. Small to medium-sized breweries face challenges in yeast handling and propagation without scalable and efficient systems.

Control and optimize yeast propagation

The GEA Craft Yeast Propagator is a skid-mounted system designed specifically for craft breweries and small to medium-sized breweries. This system allows brewmasters to produce high-quality yeast for fermentation, ensuring consistent beer production while also enabling experimentation. Compatible with GEA’s CRAFT-STAR® and COMPACT-STAR® solutions, it supports propagation sizes ranging from 5 to 25 hectoliters. The modular process skid ensures easy transportation, installation, and setup. Features such as living cell measurement, load cells, and a sterilizing option can be added to tailor the system to brewery needs. The clean-in-place (CIP) option facilitates maintenance. The propagator includes a recirculation pipe and an internal aeration system, eliminating the need for a stirrer and enhancing yeast activity and viability. GEA is the manufacturer of this system.

Benefits

  • Facilitates easy transportation, installation, and setup
  • Allows yeast storage from large fermenters, eliminating extra storage tanks
  • Supports semi-automated control for brewmaster experimentation
  • Manual clean-in-place (CIP) process for easier maintenance
  • Scalable propagation volumes from 5 to 25 hectoliters
