Single-screw extruder for pre-gelatinized materials

In industries focusing on snack production, the challenge often lies in efficiently shaping precooked materials into various forms while ensuring consistent product quality and safety.

Shape pre-gelatinized materials with precision

The GEA xTru Former is a single-screw forming-extruder designed for processing potato-based raw materials, pre-gelatinized materials, and cooked doughs. It uses interchangeable dies and a suitable cutting system to shape materials at controlled temperatures. The extruder can operate as a standalone unit for die-cut and laminated potato shapes or in combination with a cooking-extruder for cereal-based die-cut shapes. What sets the GEA xTru Former apart are its focus on hygiene, safety, and durability. Parts in contact with the product, such as the single-shaft premixer and mixing tank, are made of stainless steel and can be easily disassembled for cleaning. Safety features include safety probes for immediate feedback on malfunctions and a thrust-bearing drive system for the extrusion screw, complying with EN60204-1 standards. Constructed with induction-hardened stainless steel for the extrusion screws and carbon-painted steel for the supporting structures, the GEA xTru Former offers both high yield strength and good corrosion resistance.
