Electrospray aerosol generator for nano-scale aerosols

In advanced aerosol research or industrial calibration, precise generation of nano-scale aerosols is crucial. Scientists and engineers often face challenges in producing highly monodisperse particles continuously and in high concentrations to ensure accurate and repeatable results.

Generate high-concentration monodisperse nano particles

The Electrospray Aerosol Generator 3480, from TSI Systems, produces high concentrations of monodisperse nanoparticles ranging from 2 to 100 nm. This process involves pushing a charged liquid solution or suspension through a capillary tube, where an electrical field forms individual droplets. These droplets are then mixed with air and CO2 to evaporate the liquid, leaving behind neutralized particles via an ionizer. Suitable for creating residue particles from water-soluble solids, lipid droplets, and individual macromolecules, the EAG 3480 can generate protein aerosols as small as 3 nm and PSL particles up to 200 nm. Applications include instrument calibration, nano-aerosol studies, and macromolecular aerosol analysis.

Benefits

  • Produces particles from 2 to 100 nm in diameter
  • Ensures particles are uniform in size and shape
  • Generates high concentrations (~10^6 particles/cm3)
  • Suitable for diverse materials including aqueous suspensions
  • Continuous operation for extended periods
