Co2 recovery and liquefaction system for biogas upgrading

In biogas upgrading and carbon capture operations, maintaining sustainability and generating additional revenue pose significant challenges. Typically, excess CO2 produced in these processes needs efficient management to avoid waste and environmental harm.

Recover and liquefy Co2 from biogas plants

The CO2 Recovery & Liquefaction system from HoSt Group is designed to recover and liquefy CO2 produced during the biogas upgrading process or after carbon capture. This system ensures the production of consistent food-grade liquid (bio)CO2, with a recovery rate exceeding 99%. Available in various scales – Mini, Compact, Medium, and Grand – the system’s modular and containerized design allows for flexible deployment. Electrical consumption ranges from 0.20-0.22 kWh per kg of liquid CO2, underlining its energy efficiency. The system’s CO2 purification technology uses CO2 as a refrigerant, bypassing more harmful substances like Freon or Ammonia. Industries that could benefit from liquid (bio)CO2 include horticulture, food processing, and refrigeration, contributing to a lower carbon intensity score (CI-score).

Benefits

  • Generates additional revenue through liquid bio-CO2 production
  • Achieves high CO2 recovery rates over 99%
  • Energy-efficient with low electrical consumption
  • Environmentally safer using CO2 as a refrigerant
  • Containerized design for easy on-site installation
