Chestnut sterilisation system for parasite control

When processing chestnuts for commercial distribution, ensuring the elimination of parasites, including insect eggs and larvae, is critical for product safety and quality. Traditional methods such as gas sterilisation often leave pesticide residues, posing additional challenges for compliance and consumption.

Sterilises chestnuts with controlled hot water

The chestnut sterilisation line by Boema S.p.A. utilizes a hot water treatment system to effectively eliminate parasites, including Balaninus Elephas and Laspey Resia Spp, in approximately 40 minutes. This method surpasses gas sterilisation by not only destroying insect eggs and larvae but also ensuring the absence of pesticide residues on the finished product. The line features different sizes to cater to various processing capacities. It includes a drum steriliser, a separating tank to remove floating bodies, and a drum tunnel for drying, ensuring a complete sterilisation process. This system offers a reliable solution for maintaining the quality and safety of chestnuts during industrial processing.
