Train scales for torpedo vehicles
Weighing pig iron accurately and efficiently is essential in steel production. Traditional methods often lack precision and require significant time and resources, impacting productivity and operational costs.

Weigh pig iron with high accuracy and efficiency
The train scales for torpedo vehicles by Schenck Process offer both static and dynamic weighing solutions to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy in steel production. Static scales can be installed under the blast furnace’s discharge position, while dynamic scales can be placed in the track between the blast furnace and the steel plant. The system utilizes MULTIRAIL® versions for fully automated operations, calculating the net pig iron production volume per day for internal balancing. The scales use DMR weighbeams or WDI weighing discs, depending on the wheel load, mounted directly on standard concrete sleepers (B70W) for reduced overall height. This setup eliminates the need for extensive concrete foundations, saving on production costs and minimizing downtime. The system achieves precision levels of +/- 0.1% when weighing both bogies and +/- 0.5% when weighing one side, even at travel speeds of 4-8 km/h.
