Retrofit for active carbon recovery systems
Increased operational demands and changing emission regulations often render existing active carbon recovery systems inadequate. Issues such as reduced capacity, performance loss due to contamination, and safety risks from exothermic reactions necessitate an upgrade for continued compliance and efficiency.
Enhance capacity and safety with carbon retrofit
The BORSIG Carbon Retrofit Unit is designed to improve the performance of existing active carbon recovery systems. This unit includes a membrane unit, a vacuum pump, and an optional blower installed upstream. It bypasses a substantial mass flow of hydrocarbons directly to the existing absorption system. The vapour stream from the scrubber is processed by the membrane unit, separating it into two streams. Hydrocarbon-enriched vapours are returned to the scrubber while lighter hydrocarbons are directed to the adsorber vessels. This configuration reduces the hydrocarbon mass flow to the carbon bed adsorbers, increasing overall efficiency, capacity, and safety. BORSIG’s pre-assembled, skid-mounted design ensures easy integration with minimal modifications to the existing setup.
Benefits
- Considerable reduction of hydrocarbon mass flow to the carbon bed adsorbers
- Increased adsorption performance and process debottlenecking
- Improved safety due to reduced exothermic reactions
- Higher system capacity post-retrofit
- Low maintenance and reduced specific power consumption
