Lab scale normal flow filtration system

Normal Flow Filtration is frequently used the biopharmaceutical processing industry to prepare liquids and solutions for further processing.  A wide variety of commercially available filters are used and efficient and consistent processing often requires careful control of the filtration process parameters and behavior of the filter medium used.  Experienced biopharmaceutical producers know that laboratory testing and documentation of NFF processes prior to implementation at a production scale is an important step in developing an efficient process.

Semi-Automated Normal Flow Filtration for the laboratory

Scilog is focused on improving the quality and efficiency of customers’ processes in the biopharmaceutical industry through enhancements and automation of sensing, filtration and other processing needs.  The company’s FilterTec system is a semi automated, NFF system with electronic HMI and specialized software.  The system’s pre-installed software allows user selectable limits and alarms for safe, consistent process performance without constant operator attendance.  The system responds to sensor feedback to maintain user-defined filter back pressure or filtrate flow rates.  A disposable pressure sensors and integrated electronic scale are included as well as a programmable peristaltic pump allowing completely unattended NFF processing to user specified parameters.  With the addition of the SciDoc documentation package 15 filtration parameters can be calculated, displayed, and documented providing the information and control you need for developing an optimized NFF process.

Benefits

  • Easy to use HMI with automated data collection using SciDoc optional package
  • Includes disposable pressure sensors and responds to sensor feedback
  • Compatible with a variety of NFF filter cartridges from different manufacturers
  • Automatically determine filter capacity for process development
  • Optimize filtration processes before implementation in a production setting
