Keel cleaning system for poultry processing

In poultry processing, ensuring that chicken keels are properly cleaned and separated from meat can be challenging. Maintaining high throughput while conserving water and minimizing energy costs is essential for efficient operations.

Separates and cleans keel efficiently

The Prime KPS Keel Cleaning System by JBT is designed to effectively separate meat from cut chicken keels, resulting in a clean keel product ready for further processing or shipment. The process utilizes a specially designed picker-scalder, where heated water and mechanical fingers separate the meat from the keel. The water is then screened to remove solids and re-circulated, conserving both water and heat. The system operates with electrical requirements of up to 480V and water requirements of up to 350 gallons to fill the holding tank, with a production capacity of 25 pounds of keel per minute. It employs a drive system powered by motors between 1.3 to 20 hp, depending on the model. Weighing between 1,800 to 2,400 lbs, the system ensures high throughput and ease of use while being designed to minimize operational costs.

Benefits

  • High throughput of 25 pounds of keel per minute
  • Conserves water and heat through re-circulation
  • Effectively separates meat from keel for clean output
  • Easy maintenance and operation
  • Minimizes operational costs with efficient water and energy use
