Ion exchange system for fruit juices and syrups

In the beverage industry, maintaining the appropriate sugar-to-acid ratio in fruit juices or producing deionized fruit sugar syrups can be challenging. Traditional methods often require extensive manual adjustments and can lead to inconsistencies in the final product.

Adjust sugar/acid ratios or deionize whole juices

The Ion Exchange system by Bucher Unipektin is designed for the specific needs of treating fruit juices and syrups. Using weak anion exchange resins, it allows precise adjustments to the sugar/acid ratio, known as fruit acid reduction. For complete deionization, both cation and anion exchange resins can be used to recover fruit sugars effectively. The system features a fully automatic, PLC control with a PC-based operator interface for easy monitoring. Optional adsorptive polymer vessels enhance the capability of reducing color and organic molecules. With capacities ranging from 500 to 50,000 liters per hour, it supports continuous operation through multiple trains and boasts stainless steel construction tailored to local regulations.

Benefits

  • Accurate adjustment of sugar/acid ratio
  • Complete deionization for sugar recovery
  • Minimized processing costs
  • Fully automatic control with user-friendly interface
  • Customizable to various capacities and regulatory needs
