In the dairy industry, separating whey from curd is a crucial step in the production of various cheese products. Traditional methods of whey extraction often result in curd damage and loss of product quality.

Automates whey extraction, preserves curd integrity
The Filter Drum by Uzermak is designed to efficiently extract whey while transporting curd on the drum’s surface. The rotating drum makes sure that no external force is exerted on the curd, thereby preventing any damage. Whey collects in the vat beneath the drum and the system comes with a CIP pump capable of discharging at a rate of 30 ton/h. The drum has a diameter of 625 mm and a length of 1150 mm, complemented by a cleft width of 500 μm. The energy requirement is minimal at 1.5 kW with a controlled rotation speed of 0-10 rpm, adjustable via a speed control device. Built with safety in mind, it includes an emergency button on the electrical panel.
