The UltraStar XL from Bucher Unipektin is a semi-continuous cross-flow ultrafiltration unit designed to tackle the complex challenge of clarifying liquids with medium to high suspended solids content. Utilizing large-diameter tubular membranes, this system excels in the filtration and clarification of fruit juices, wines, and aqueous plant extracts, making it indispensable for food, beverage, and biotechnology industries. The unit operates by circulating product through ½’’ diameter membrane tubes, allowing for separation as permeate exits the system, maximizing product yield and quality. Capable of processing multiple applications such as apple, pear, and citrus juices, as well as herbal plant extracts and fermenter broths, it adeptly manages high-capacity operations due to its modular design.
The UltraStar XL’s fully automated system features an integrated PLC with a touch panel for seamless operation and includes CIP (Clean-In-Place) for efficient maintenance. Its compatibility with a range of membrane types, including UF and PVDF, offers flexibility in cut-off specifications to meet diverse filtration requirements. With a connected load between 36-85 kW and available membrane areas ranging from 83 to 499m², the unit is designed for energy efficiency while accommodating different throughput demands.
