In vegetable processing, efficiently managing the outfeed from vegetable washers is critical to maintain a streamlined workflow and reduce product loss. Manual handling can lead to inefficiencies and potential safety hazards, especially in high-throughput environments.
Automate basket rotation and filling
The automatic basket carousel BCA, manufactured by Sormac, is designed to operate behind the SW-50 vegetable washer. The carousel uses an automatic rotational mechanism to move baskets from the filling point to the unloading position. Once positioned below the outfeed of the washer, a chute opens to fill the basket with the correct amount of product, controlled by a height sensor. After filling, the chute closes to prevent product spills, and the carousel advances the full basket to the unloading position. The operator then replaces the full basket with an empty one. The system includes a hygienic control panel with push buttons and lights for straightforward operation. Integrated torque protection ensures safety by halting the carousel if obstructions are detected in its path. This solution is suitable for diced vegetables and loose leafy greens with maximum product dimensions of 150 x 150 mm, and can handle up to 15 kg per basket.
