Wet spent grains pre-dewatering system
In brewing operations, managing the moisture content of wet spent grains is crucial. Excess moisture can lead to issues during storage, transport, and biogas production, impacting efficiency and costs.

Reduce moisture content in spent grains
The VetterTec wet spent grain pre-dewatering system is designed to decrease the moisture of wet spent grains before they are transferred to a silo. Installed as an extension on the buffer silo under the lauter tun or on a single spent grain conveyor, the system uses a specially designed screw configuration inside a perforated screen to efficiently drain water from the spent grains. The system can reduce moisture content by 2 to 3% from an initial 80% water content. This reduction not only helps in diminishing splash during loading and transportation but also improves efficiency when the spent grain water is sent to a biogas production plant. The equipment is easy to integrate into existing setups, takes up minimal space, and includes a screen washing system with spray nozzles for maintenance.
