Packed column cooling tower for gas streams
In industrial processes, rapid cooling or quenching of gas streams is often necessary to maintain operational efficiency and meet regulatory standards. This requirement arises in various sectors such as chemical processing and environmental control, where gases need to be cooled quickly to prevent safety hazards or equipment damage.

Ensure rapid and uniform cooling of gases
The GEA Packed Column Cooler is an advanced solution designed for the rapid cooling or quenching of gas streams. This vertical vessel, or column, facilitates intensive contact between the scrubbing liquid and the exhaust gas flow. The gas enters at the lower end and is led upward, while the cooling liquid is distributed evenly from the top, making its way down the column. This counterflow arrangement ensures effective heat exchange, resulting in efficient gas cooling. The choice of internal installations, such as packed-bed, tray, or spray columns, depends on the exhaust gas composition. Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation is used for optimized gas distribution and nozzle arrangement, minimizing dust agglomeration via rapping devices. The GEA Cooler offers a compact design, low maintenance, and an optional cleaning function after a specific deadtime.
