Microcarrier separation system for adherent cell cultures

During adherent cell culture production, separating microcarrier beads efficiently is crucial to maintaining high product yields while minimizing contamination risks. Traditional methods often require extensive cleaning and manual processes, leading to higher labor costs and longer cycle times.

Efficiently separate microcarrier beads in cell culture

The Thermo Scientific™ Harvestainer™ Microcarrier Separation System is designed to streamline the separation of microcarrier beads during adherent cell culture production. This closed, single-use system minimizes contamination risks and reduces the need for clean-in-place and steam-in-place requirements. The system helps increase product yields and eliminates extensive equipment maintenance while reducing process validations and manual final decanting. Available in 3 L, 12 L, 25 L, and 50 L capacities, the Harvestainer system is scalable for both smaller and larger scale applications. It features a bioprocess container (BPC) and a secondary containment device, with the larger models using a drum for containment. The BPC’s dipwell design ensures efficient drainage with minimal manipulation, providing reliable and high recovery rates. This system is ideal for in-line microcarrier separation in adherent cell culture production. Thermo Fisher Scientific manufactures the system to high standards, ensuring sterility and ease of use.
