Leafy vegetable washer with air injection system

For processors handling large quantities of leafy vegetables, maintaining product integrity during washing while ensuring thorough cleaning can be challenging. Removing contaminants without damaging the delicate leaves requires innovative technology.

Wash leafy vegetables with adjustable air turbulence

The Pulstar washer, designed by Sormac, employs an integrated air injection system to clean all kinds of leafy vegetables. This system allows for continuous adjustment of air quantity, creating variable turbulence in the water for optimal cleaning. The washer’s peristaltic movement ensures that the delicate leaves are cleaned thoroughly without mechanical contact, preserving their quality. A frequency-driven circulation pump controls the water flow, enabling precise management of dwell time within the washer. Loose particles are filtered out using a static sieve, and the product can be separated from the water on an optional outfeed conveyor. Capacities of up to 4,000 kg/h can be reached, making it suitable for high-volume operations. Sormac also offers various customizable configurations, including options like a dewatering conveyor, cooling spiral, and UV-C water disinfection.
