Cultivation system for microtiter plates

In the field of microbial research, efficiently handling and growing large numbers of microbial strains, clonal libraries, and mutant banks is crucial. The challenge lies in managing these extensive cultivations while maintaining a sterile environment and reproducible conditions.

Cultivate and test multiple strains efficiently

The Applikon Micro-Flask, provided by Getinge, is a versatile cultivation platform designed for the rapid handling and growth of numerous microbial strains, clonal libraries, mutant banks, and cell lines in microtiter plates. The system enables a single individual to simultaneously grow and test thousands of strains with minimal repetitive handling, enhancing productivity. The Micro-Flask ensures low and uniform evaporation rates, maintaining a sterile barrier for individual wells to prevent cross-contamination. With oxygen transfer rates comparable to shake flasks, it converts 24 and 96 microtiter plates into individual micro-bioreactors. This system also supports the simultaneous and reproducible sampling of 96 frozen glycerol stocks using the integrated Cryo-Replicator. All handling is performed in parallel batches, optimizing the use of orbital shakers.

Benefits

  • Minimizes repetitive handling labor
  • Reduces cross-contamination risks
  • Ensures uniform growth conditions
  • Supports high-throughput screening
  • Enhances productivity in microbial research
