Clarifying decanters for oil & gas
The higher demand for hydrocarbons is pushing the oil and gas industry into challenging new environments. Modern rigs and FPSOs require efficient ways to handle variable oil and solids content in slop tanks, including contaminants like drain and slop water, oil spills, brine, and drilling mud.

Optimize slop treatment and protection
The clarifying decanters developed by GEA are advanced systems designed specifically for the oil and gas industry. These decanters feature a low bowl angle for optimal thickening and a hydraulic scroll drive for maximum power. The patented bowl design handles brine with a specific gravity of up to 1.5 sg. The decanters are self-contained, skid-mounted systems with an integrated control panel suitable for installation in ATEX Ex-Zone 1 (Category 2G) Temperature Class T3, or the US equivalent class 1, Division 1. They ensure high separation efficiency, safe operation, and robustness. Applications include treating drilling fluids and slop oil, reducing sea discharge, and facilitating cost-effective waste management.
Benefits
- High separation efficiency for variable slop materials
- Safe operation with integrated control panel
- Suitable for ATEX Ex-Zone 1 and US equivalent class 1, Division 1
- Lower operational costs by minimizing sea discharge
- Durable materials and components for extended service life
