Starch processing decanter centrifuge

In the starch processing industry, achieving efficient separation of liquids and solids is critical for dewatering proteins, separating gluten, and clarifying liquids like fruit juice. The challenge lies in ensuring consistent performance while maintaining easy operation and low noise levels.

Optimizes liquid-solid separation in starch processing

The Alfa Laval STNX decanter centrifuge is specialized equipment designed for a wide range of starch processing operations. Key applications include dewatering heat-coagulated potato protein, maize gluten, and performing 2-phase and 3-phase wheat starch and protein splitting. This centrifuge is also used for separating fruit juice and dewatering fibers in the potato and tapioca starch industries. Designed by Alfa Laval, this high-performance unit features a unique conveyor and back drive design. The conveyor offers better control of performance with replaceable wear lines and a full-flow open feed zone to prevent blockages. The back drive includes a direct drive gearbox that automatically adjusts the differential speed between the bowl and the conveyor, ensuring optimal liquid clarity and solids dryness while saving energy. Additionally, the simplistic control mechanism, where the pinion shaft turns in one direction, simplifies operation.

Benefits

  • Enhanced operational control with unique conveyor design
  • Prevents blockages with full-flow open feed zone
  • Energy savings due to direct drive gearbox
  • Consistent liquid clarity and solids dryness
  • Simplified control and reduced noise levels
