Pharmaceutical extrusion and spheronization system
In pharmaceutical manufacturing, achieving consistent pellet size and shape is critical. Ensuring precise dosing and uniformity in active ingredient distribution poses challenges, especially in continuous production environments.

Ensures uniform pellet production
The NICA Integrated Pelletizing System (IPS) from GEA is designed for pharmaceutical extrusion and spheronization. It combines extrusion and spheronization technologies to produce spherical pellets with precision. Available in five sizes, it offers continuous production rates from under 5 kg/h to over 200 kg/h. The IPS range includes models like the IPS5, which operates on the GEA PharmaConnect® platform, and the IPS200, suited for large-scale production. Each system integrates features such as an extruder, spheronizer, and actuated dosing mechanisms. The systems allow for manual or automated control, and some models offer a hot-swappable spheronizer trolley for uninterrupted production. They are ideal for producing uniform pellets, optimizing batch consistency, and reducing manual handling, making them suitable for both small-scale development and large-scale production in the pharmaceutical industry.
