Micro-scale rotary shear for particle size reduction

In research and laboratory environments, processing small quantities of diverse feedstocks such as wood, corn stover, hemp, and switchgrass often requires a compact yet robust particle reduction technology. Achieving uniform particle sizes from various moisture-content materials presents a common challenge in many experimental setups.

Reduces feedstock sizes uniformly and efficiently

The M8M Series of Crumbler® by Forest Concepts is a micro-scale rotary shear designed to deliver precise particle size reduction for materials like wood chips, bamboo, sage, and more. With a small footprint of just 3.4’ x 2.7’, this unit processes up to 1/2 wet tons or 1/4 dry tons per hour without the need for pre-drying. The system comes with modular integration options, allowing configurations ranging from single units to stacked, sequential units, adapting to specific lab requirements. Available cutter-widths from 3/64” to 1/4” enable tailored feedstock preparation. The Crumbler® operates smoothly and quietly on standard power options including 460VAC 3ph. It supports low energy consumption, boosting conversion efficiencies and facilitating research operations.

Benefits

  • Processes both high and low moisture feedstocks
  • Produces highly uniform particles
  • Low energy consumption
  • Customizable cutter-width processing heads
  • Compact design with modular integration
