Kieselguhr-free beer clarification system
In the brewing industry, traditional beer clarification techniques often utilize kieselguhr, a filter aid that raises sustainability and health concerns. Brewers face the challenge of attaining high-quality clarity without integrating kieselguhr into the process, which is becoming increasingly important for operational and environmental reasons.

Optimize beer clarification without kieselguhr
The PROFI System from GEA is a sophisticated beer clarification solution combining high-performance centrifuge technology and membrane filtration. This system eliminates the need for kieselguhr, thereby addressing sustainability and safety issues related to its usage. The process begins with unfiltered beer containing fine and coarse solids fed into a rotating bowl for initial clarification. Here, coarse solids are separated and fine solids are forwarded for additional filtration through hollow fiber filter modules. The result is a clarified beer ready for packaging, achieved without a retentate recycling system. GEA’s patented hydrohermetic feed ensures gentle processing, preserving yeast viability and improving overall clarification quality.
