High-speed syringe plunger rod assembly

In high-volume syringe production facilities, efficient and precise syringe assembly is crucial to meet demand while maintaining quality. Traditional methods might struggle to keep up with the required speed and accuracy for plunger rod insertion and labeling.

Automate syringe assembly with precision and speed

The Type 515 from Bausch Advanced Technology Group is designed for high-speed plunger rod insertion and labeling of syringes. At its core, the machine features an automated transport star wheel that moves products through four different stations, enabling the assembly of up to 40 syringes per minute. In the first station, a pneumatically actuated gripper assembly picks a plunger rod and uses a 2-axis robotic arm to thread it into the syringe. The second station places backstops on the syringe flanges. The third and fourth stations verify the presence of the plunger rod and backstop. This system ensures high precision and efficiency, with a maximum output of 2,400 syringes per hour. The machine is compact and incorporates a control cabinet, monitored torque for ideal closing, and optional labeling. Camera inspection ensures correct placement of components, minimizing errors and downtime.
