Compressor combinations for high-pressure applications
In offshore oil exploration, achieving efficient air compression for seismic surveys can be challenging. Traditional methods often lack the ability to provide consistent high-pressure air while minimizing vibrations and maintenance requirements on the vessel.

Combine piston and screw compressors efficiently
The NEUMAN & ESSER Seismic Air Power System (NEA|SAPS), features a combination of screw and piston compressors for optimal performance in high-pressure applications. Designed for the demanding conditions of offshore seismic exploration, this system uses a screw compressor for initial air compression from atmospheric pressure to approximately 15 bar. The air is then further compressed to the desired pressure by a V-type piston compressor, both driven by a mid-mounted motor. This design ensures the system is small, lightweight, and vibration-free while also reducing the need for maintenance. It requires fewer wearing parts, making it ideal for applications requiring reliable performance and minimal downtime. The SAPS system has also been effectively utilized in Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) gas production plants, solving issues related to low suction pressure and enabling cost-effective operation.
