Carrot topping and cutting system for high-capacity processing

In the processing of carrots for consumer-ready products, precise and efficient cutting is crucial to minimize waste and optimize production. This becomes particularly important when dealing with high volumes that demand both speed and accuracy in topping, tailing, and slicing operations.

Tops, tails, and slices carrots efficiently

The WOS-1A carrot topper and piece cutter from Sormac is a specialized system designed to handle carrot processing with precision and efficiency. The unit comprises a chain-mounted flight system, base plate, and aligning belts with a knife platform for reliable operation. Carrots are positioned between the flights, where they are directed against guide plates by the aligning belts, enabling accurate topping, tailing, and slicing. The machine features static knives and a unique positioning system to ensure a clean, waste-free cut. The guide plate and top size are adjustable from 12 to 29 mm, with a standard slice length of 50 mm, although other custom lengths are available. The WOS-1A is designed to handle carrots up to 75 mm in diameter and 350 mm in length, processing approximately 9,600 carrots per hour, contingent on infeed speed. The adjustable height and hinge-mounted control panel facilitate optimal working conditions, making it a versatile addition to any carrot processing line.
