Carrot process cutter for baby carrot production

In high-volume carrot processing facilities, ensuring uniform and precise cuts is essential for the efficient production of baby carrots. Traditional cutting methods often fall short in terms of speed and accuracy, posing a challenge for manufacturers striving to meet rigorous output demands.

Cut large quantities of carrots to fixed sizes

The Sormac process cutter type WSS is specifically designed for handling large batches of parallel-type carrots. This cutter slices carrots to a fixed size, typically 50 mm, which is ideal for baby carrot production. Undersized pieces that are not suitable for further processing can be conveniently removed with an optional vibratory grader. The cutter utilizes stainless steel elevator trays mounted on two drive belts to elevate the carrots. These trays, slotted at 50 mm increments, enable rotating knives to make precise cuts. A rotating spiral brush ensures proper positioning of the carrots in the trays and removes any excess. Suitable for carrots up to 30 mm in diameter, the cutter requires the tops to be removed for optimal performance. The process cutter boasts a sturdy stainless steel construction, minimal wearing parts, and a high production capacity of up to 5,000 kg per hour, depending on consistent product delivery across its width. The equipment is often combined with grading drums, transport conveyors, and dosing bunkers for a complete processing line. Sormac B.V., based in Venlo, Netherlands, supplies this advanced cutting technology.
