Automatic bolting system for car underbody assembly

In automobile manufacturing, ensuring precise and consistent bolting of components is critical for structural integrity and safety. Manual bolting can lead to inconsistencies, especially when multiple models are produced on the same line.

Automates car underbody bolting processes

The Flex Bolt, developed by Dürr, is an automatic bolting system designed to operate in a Cartesian axis setup. Positioned on an intermediate mezzanine floor in the assembly line, the Flex Bolt performs underbody bolting tasks completely automatically. The system is programmable to handle various car models simultaneously, ensuring flexibility across three axes with controlled movements. Each bolting action is checked for accurate screw tightening, with data transferred to a central PC. Additionally, it communicates with a backup station to automatically correct any errors, reducing the need for operator intervention.

Benefits

  • Increases precision in bolting tasks
  • Ensures flexibility for different car models
  • Reduces manual intervention
  • Transfers tightening data for quality assurance
  • Automatically corrects bolting errors
