#Changemaker: There was a time when frost was just a fact of life

When a dry, windless night follows a cold snap, growers know they can expect a layer of frost on their crops in the morning. But the real harm is caused beneath the surface.

Ice crystals rupture the cell walls inflicting permanent damage on the plants.

If only the warm air didn’t escape so quickly from the ground on nights like these.

We cannot change the laws of physics, but Grupo SPAG found a way to amend them. The EOLE anfti-frost tower captures air from the upper layer and redistributes it downwards.
This thermal inversion mixes warm air back into the low-lying layer, preventing radiation frost to up to -6°C.
