High-flexibility turntable for automotive body-in-white production
In the automotive industry, ensuring efficient and flexible manufacturing processes is crucial when dealing with varying automobile models. Incorporating technology that supports quick tooling changes and simultaneous operations can significantly enhance production line efficiency and adaptability.

Optimize your car body production process
The KS TurnFlex by KUKA is a turntable designed to increase flexibility and efficiency in car body production plants. This system allows you to equip the turntable with up to four geometry tools, enabling the processing of side panels and underbodies of different automobile models from a single station. The KS TurnFlex operates with a turntable that holds multiple tools on separate carriages. A component is mounted on one of these tools by the first robot. The loaded tool then moves into the processing station for geometry spot welds. After processing, a second robot unloads the component for further processing. The empty tool carriage returns to the turntable to be loaded again, facilitating continuous operation without downtime. This design enables simultaneous welding and change of tooling, effectively reducing non-productive times and increasing throughput.
Benefits
- High flexibility for different automobile models
- User-friendly with easily accessible geometry tools
- Simultaneous welding and tooling changes
- Minimized non-productive times
- Enhanced production line efficiency
