Cell retention device for high-density perfusion processes
Managing high-density cell cultures over prolonged periods requires maintaining cell viability and efficient separation of cell debris without causing damage to the cells or risking blockages.
Separate cells and remove debris automatically
The Applikon BioSep, provided by Getinge, is a unique cell retention device critical to continuous bioprocesses. It employs high frequency resonant ultrasonic waves to separate viable cells from cell debris, which are automatically removed. The system’s high separation efficiency, up to 99%, ensures minimal damage to cells. Designed for scalability, it supports a range of perfusion rates from 0.1 L/day to 1000 L/day across differing bioreactor sizes, making it adaptable for various stages from process optimization to production. The BioSep can be installed directly onto the bioreactor head plate and is proven under cGMP conditions, with available models delivering standard documentation and services required for such environments.
Benefits
- High separation efficiency without cell damage
- Automatic removal of cell debris
- Scalable across multiple perfusion rates
