Microcarrier separation system for adherent cell culture

In adherent cell culture production, efficient separation of microcarrier beads is crucial to increase product yields and minimize labor-intensive processes. Traditional methods often require extensive cleaning and maintenance, creating significant downtime and potential contamination risks.

Enable high recovery rates with inline separation.

The Harvestainerâ„¢ Microcarrier Separation System by Thermo Fisher Scientific is a closed, single-use solution designed to improve microcarrier bead separation during adherent cell culture production. This system helps to increase product yields versus traditional methods by reducing clean-in-place and steam-in-place requirements. It also reduces water for injection usage, eliminating the need for equipment maintenance and minimizing process validations, cycle times, and manual final decanting processes. For both smaller-scale and larger-scale applications, the Harvestainer system offers inline microcarrier separation, available in 3 L and 12 L units with pre-assembled bioprocess containers (BPC) and a tray acting as a secondary containment device. The 25 L and 50 L units consist of a 3D BPC with a drum as the secondary containment device. The dip tube with dipwell design in the BPC ensures better drainage and minimal manipulation, facilitating efficient separation.
